Club night 9/12/13

Dave Butler suffered his first defeat of the season going down 1-0 to Tom Burns. The only goal came in the first half. It was a close match but Butler did have the opportunities to draw level. A great win for Burns but his chances of taking the title remain slim. He is 10 points ahead of Butler but has played 6 games more. Colin Day is in a slightly better position but both challengers require other players to take points from the champion if their dreams are to be realised.

Butler remains favourite despite defeat

Baver Bari returned after an absence and drew with Dave Gladman. Gladman dominated play but Bari was always dangerous and it took a goal two minutes from time to enable Gladman to earn a share of the points. Bari won against John Halpin but it took him until the last kick of the first half to go ahead. In his third match Bari went down 6-3 to Tom Burns. A win for Martin Phee against Halpin moved him four places up the table.

Glasgow Cup

A Group 3 Glasgow Cup game between Dave Butler and Colin Day also took place. It was a game of two halves with Butler dominating the first and Day the second. Neither player, however, was able to find the net. The draw means that Day has now qualified and Butler needs only to draw with Gladman to progress.

  1. i don’t think the win changes anything for me but it certainly keeps colin in the hunt, the league game between them may well be the decider,if they were to draw it might put me back in with a slight chance, maybe i should ref it.lol

  2. Long way to go yet Tom! I can’t stop replaying that last minute gilt-edged chance I had …. !! Still, I can’t rely on scoring with the last flick of the game to rescue these situations! Need to get the lads onto the training pitch!

    1. i would have been gutted if you had as it was just about the only clear shot you had in the game.i felt the same with the straight one down the middle, couldn’t believe i missed the ball.still don’t think i can catch you.but will try and keep the pressure on not that i think it will affect you.
